KYEBURN DISTRICT MINERS' ASSOCIATION.

The third quarterly meeting of the above association was held in tke schoolhouse, Upper Kypburn, on the 14th inst., the attendance being somewhat less than on former occasions. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, after which the correspondence was dealt with. The first communication taken up was from Mr Scobie Mackenzie, M.H E., stating that the petition, together vsith the resolutions passed by the Mount Ida and Kyeburn District MinlDg Associations re cancellation of perpetual lease held by Mr D. M'Creaily, Kyeburn, had been duly forwarded to the Minister of Lands, and his attention otherwise drawn to the matter. A lettpr was then read from the secretary of tha St Bathans Mining Association intimating that their association quite approved of the action taken in coaneation with Mr M'Cready's lease, and had forwarded to the Minister of lands an urgent request to grant the prayer as set forth in the petition, after which tha above association was thanked for their ready assistance. A letter was nlso read from the chairman of the Mount Ida Miners' Association, in which he stated that Mr TCngle, St. Batliane, was anxious to sec a Central Committee eleoted. Some discussion ensued

on' this subject, after whioh Mr Moses Brown moved and Mr James Smith, sen., seconded— " That tbJB association quite approves of the idea of a Central Committee ; that the aeoretary should communicate with the other associations on the mbject, and that the matter be again brought up at next meeting." — Motion carried. • Beports of the Lowburn Miners' Association meetings were then read from the Cromwell Argus ; also certain telegram* whioh had pasted between the Premier 'and Mr John Werner, secretary Lowburn Miners' Association, rt resolutions carried by the mining conference lately held at Clyde. The latter gave ri»e to considerable discussion, in whioh a good deal of dissatisfaction wai expressed, after which the Secretary moved-" That while this association considers the attitude and reply of the Premier as very unsatisfactory, it compliments Mr Werner on the firm and loyal stand he has taken in the matter." Mr M. Brown seconded the motioir, which was carried. Mr J. F. Morris then moved, and Mr E. Gale seconded—" That the secretary be instructed to send the name of- this association, together with the secretary's addresi, to the Otago Witness." This motion was also carried, after which the meeting olosed.
