FROZEN MEAT.
The important company which is being organised at! Liverpool to develop a direct trade in frozen meat ' between New Zealand and that port is (says ,the London corresporident of the Argus writing ori the 22nd February) 1 progressing satisfactorily, and will shortly be announced. The £500,000 capital to be first applied for will be forthcoming at once, and a very strong directory has been arranged. The company will build their own steamers, and will not attempt to make the voyage home under 50 days, consequently they expecb to be able to carry the meat almost aa cheaply as sailing ships,' This will enable them to oner the New Zealand growers '2|d per lb for their meat, or a clear Jd per lb more than has been obtainable under existing arrangements. The market for frozen meat shows. a slight improvevent on the week, which is chiefly due to the reduction of stocks. There is now very little Australian mutton in the market, and tb,e stock of New Zealand is reduced to about 130,000 carcases.
