Wright was voted to the chair, and in introducing the business of the evening said he was of opinion that a committee would find plenty of scope for their energies, and considerable good would result to the district through having a watchful eye kept on matters of public import. Had a committee beeu appointed some time ago he thought that instead of being in such an unsatisfactory condition still, the coal question would have been settled long ere this. Messrs J. Wright, R. Thomson, M. Miller, D. Black, and W. Doar were elected members of the committee. Babbiting.-Mr F. Docherty is the successful tenderer for clearing the hundreds this year.
