, November 27. — The > twentieth annual meeting of shareholders of the Phcomx Water Eace Company, was held, in the company's office, Peel street, Lawrence, on Monday, 26th November. There r-was a i fair , attendance of local shareholders {[present. Dr E. Withers , was ■ voted to the chair. The chairman read the annual report and balance sheet. He stated that the balance sheet .showed ds9l 16s 7d at credit in the Bapk of New South Wales, and over £200 due for water, sold, but some of the amounts owing the company m.ight have some trouble hi getting in. The report was as tollows •.—. — "Your directors regret, through , the falling off in mining in Wetherstones, the sales of water, are 20 per cent, less than "./or 18§7. Ihey, however, hope that the requirements of the Blue Spur Consplidated , Company jnay during the ensuing year b,e a means: of di&ppsingof.a.portionof our large suppljv. They,haye endeavoured to encourage mining and to incre&feo the sale by. giving water at half price to miners whilst opening, up their claims. Th,e danig and races' are all in fair order, and ~p\\e water, haa, aTwaysibcen' greatly in excess of demands. Your 'directors are' happy to be able tpjdeclare a 2a dividend per' share, and should thelarge debt of the Wetheratone Company! 6e ipaid, they' confidently* expects be able to pay another 2a dividend in a few months. No large expenditure for worka anticipated, and you will notice that' the expenses under that heading for the last half-year have only amounted to £-3 13s "Bd, whilst the management I 'continues 'to' be conducted at' as moderate an outlays as' possible."—' The Ohauutan moved—' ' Thatthtf report and balance sheet be adopted,"— vhloh was seconded by Mr W, QotTDSMifca, and' carried unanimously.
