August 18.— Ihe weather during the past month has been simply splendid, spring having now fairly set in. A 6 a general thing we do not enjoy mucl? spring-like weather in these southern latitudes, but) this season may be said to be an exception to the
rule. Agricultural.— Farming operations are, on thd whole, well forward, ploughing aud harrowing hav- 1 ing been vigorously pushed forward during the last week, With th~Bbeaatlful"warm days that we are in the meantime enjoying, tbe grass is commencing to spring rapidly. The roads in the country are, now getting better, although yet a little sticky. Farmers that were prevented doing so by bad roads in the winter are now bringing out their grain.
