Another medical sensation has been caused at Auckland by the death of a man named Ross, who hid used Ihe Canadian medicines sold by Mr Duflob. The man, however, was suffering from, pericarditis ; and Dr Bakewell, who was called to attend him, says he does not think the Canadian medicines had anything to do with his drftth. Ross was tn old seafaring m in, and well known in Auckland.

A man named Franklyn, aged 30, was placed iv the Auckland hospital on the 28lh suffering acute < rvsipelas. A few days age he had a tooih extracted on Duflot's "golden chariot," the operatiou causing intense pain. It afterwards transpired that the alveolar portion of the jiw had been broken and an abscess formed, which subsequently induced erysipelas. The patient is in a very bad state. ,The iuqut-st on Captain Rocs, who' had used the' Canadian medicine, and who, according to Dr Bakewell, was suffering from pericarditis,

resulted in a verdict of death from, natural causes. I The seventh annual meeting of the Canter- | bury Farmers' Co-operative Association was held on Saturday. The directors' report stated that the net balance for the year was £4546. A dividend of 7 per cent, was declared, with a bonus of 3 per pent, on the called-up capital, 20 per cent, written off machinery and office furniture, £1000 added to the reserve fund, and the balance carried forward. Mr W. F, Pearson, M.H.R. for Ashley, died about 3.30 a.m. on Tuesday. He seemed improving until Tuesday morning, when he became worse and sank rapidly. A deposit of £250 was paid at Westport on Tuesday, and a bargaiu concluded for the purchase of the coal propecting areas held by local people at Ngakawau. . The terms are £10,000 cash,, nud half paid-up shares in the company to bo formed. The purchasers are a wealthy syndicate in Sydney, and a large shipping firm is also said to be interested, who will carry mineral* to fore.igu ports. ' ■ :
