V.R.C. AUTUMN MEETING. Third Day. — Makch 8. The third day's races of the V.R.C. meeting took place to-day. The meeting attracted very little interest, and there was not a larga attendance. It was notified this morning that Australian Peer was scratched for all engagements at the meeting, in consequence of having broken a bloodvessel in the race for the St. Leger. The events resulted as follows :—: — SECOND HURDLE EACH, Of ssovs each, with SJOOsovs added: second 40sovs , third 2030V8. About two miles. Betting : 3 to 1 agst Abercorn, 3 to 1 Enfikde, 6 to 1 Nelson. As soon as the flag fell Enfilade went away with the lead, but the pace was slow for the first quarter of a mile. On reaching the abattoirs Nelson passed Enfilade, and Abercorn was then lying four lengths in the rear. The same order was maintained passing the stand on the first round, but at the bottom turn Abercorn improved his position. Along the back stretch the favourite was still improving, and then ran into second place. Nelson kept the lead to the straight, but here Enfilade under the whip crept up to the leaders, but he soon fell away again. Abercorn now ran up to Nelson, and without being touched with the whip shot past and won very easily by a length. Enfilade was four lengths behind Nelson. Time, 6min 15sec. THE SPECIAL JUVENILE STAKES, A'sweep of Ssovs each, with 300sovs added ; second horse OOsovs, third 30sovs. For geldings ouly. Weight for age. On& mile. Foubth Day.— March 10. The attendance at the fourth day's racing of the V.R.C meeting was very good, though the weather was cold and bleak. Owing to the death of the German Emperor, their Excellencies the Governors and party were not present.-. Nelson also started^ Beting :'3 to^L on Carlyon. Enfilade was the, first & way, and, led the field at a greai; pace all the jway to the straight* but nerd, Carlyon challenged him', and at the distance post passed him. Cyclops also came very fast in the straight, and although he beat Enfilade, could hever reach Carlyon 1 , who won by a length, Nelson being fourth. Time, 3min 38^sec.
