E. A. C— Have the mare put in slings— not to lift her off her feet : only sufficiently bo that she may rest herself. Make sure that ihe fastenings are secure. If she is inclined to paw or jerk her injured leg, have splints of wood put ou each aide, securing with broad bandages and leaving the wound open for dressing. Heaving rendered tbe joint stiff, dissolve one ecruple of chloride of zinc in one pint of water, nnd apply it with a sponge every half-hour, gently pressing with the hand above the wound, and allowing the lotion to trickle down over th«- opening. Never allow any of tho coagulatidn to be washed or rubbed away, allowing it to remain until it drops off itself. Feed on mash or green food, with a little nitrate of potass dissolved in her drink once a week.
