LONDON WOOL SALES.

Fourteen thousand two hundred bales of wool were offered at to-day's wool sales. The wool sales closed briskly, with prices unchanged. Twenty-five thousand bales have been held over for the next sales. Tho December rates have been generally maintained, except for shorb and faulty descriptions, which have declined Id to l^d. " February 26. The wool sales have closed firm, and prices generally are about level to those obtained at the December sales, except in the case of good greasy combing and fine crossbreds, which were slightly higher, while low faulty merinos were to Id better. During the series 270,000 bales were catalogued, of which number 27,000 were withdrawn. 155.000 bales were purchased for export. The next series opens on the sth April. Messrs Dalgety and Co. have received the following telegram from their head office, dated London, February 23rd:— "Wool sales closed dull, nobody seeming anxious to buy. Cousiderable quantities have lately been withdrawn * The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) havo reoeived th& following telegram from their London offic&, under date 25th inst. : — " The sales closed to-day at the level of last sales, except for superior greasy, superior combing washed, superior scoured merino, and coasse crossbreds, which, have all advanced nearly per lb. Medium and superior greasy,, inferior washed merino, aadl inferior scoured werino have declined §d pn» lb». Superior greasy merino lambs has advanced |d ft and inferior greasy merino lambs has declined £d to Id per lb. The sales comprised about 255,000 bales. 153,000 bales have been sent tothe Continent, 5000 have boea taken for America, and 27,000 held ove* for future disposal." Messrs Dalgety and Company have received the following telegram from their head office dated London, February 2,5 1—° Wool sales closed dull, without further change. As compared with this series, opening rates, prices for the bulk of. merinos are 6 to 8 per cent, lower, aud for the bulk of crossbreds 2 to 3 per cent, lower. Total number of bales held over, 24,000." Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. have received, the following cablegram from their London houses (Messrs Sanderson, Murray, and Co.), dated thfe 25th inst. : — " Sales have closed dull. ConxjwtfeeH with opening rates, merino declined 10 pet wnt.j, and crossbred a shade."
