SALE OF RACEHORSES.
There was a large attendance at the sale of racehorses held in the Provincial yards on Friday by Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. The trotting mare Duchess was passed in at 105gs, and St. Ives was passed at lOOgs. Mokoia, by Korari— Malice, was sold to Mr H. Goodman for 30gs ; and Lady Constance, by Gorton — Dione, found a purchaser in Mr Monson at 37£gs. A Gorton — Legerdemain filly was sold to Mr P. Mangan for 31gs ; and a chestnut colt, also submitted on behalf of the Hon. G. M'Lean, was purchased by Mr Goodman for lOgs. Two yearling colts were sold on behalf of Mr W. Souness/jof Gore. Mr W. H. Taggart purchased one, by Trefoil— W&ikaka, for lOgs ; and Mr Cotton was the buyer of another, by Trefoil—La Bohemienne, for 16gs, as well as of a chestnut mare at the same price. On account of Mr J. Pilbrow, the bay colt Wakatipu.by The Drummer— Corisande, was put up aud sold to Mr Delamain for 240gs. An unnamed full brother to Gipsy King was passed in at 300gs.
