WAIWERA.

February 4.— The weather we have been having for a considerable time past has been very changeable, at times being rough, boisterous, and very unseasonable. As a consequence tha grain crops are not so far advanced as could be wished. The turnips are in most places remarkably good, but owing to the frequent cold winds we have had the oat crops generally will not be quite so good as was at one time anticipated. Mr T. Roseveare has commenced cutting oats, and being fall-sown they seem to be a good crop. The lighter crops are generally late spring sown. A week's fine weather would make harvest pretty general. Improvements. — Notwithstanding the dull times our little township is steadily progressing. The telephone is now in working order, and is proving a great convenience. A large new building is in course of erection, and many are the surmises as to what purpose it is intended to serve.
