CAMBRIANS.
November 28.— The weather for some time past has been very cold and changeable witli frequent showers, but although cold, the showers have been beneficial to the crops. Water is very plentiful for mining purposes, and steady work is the order of the day— and night, too, for that matter— and it is to be 'hoped this steady work will tell up at the Christmas wash-up. County Elections.— For the St. Bathans riding, of which we form a part, and which returns two members to tne County Council, we had four candidates, viz., Messrs Bwingand M'Cullough (who had eat in the previous council), and Messrs Burnet and Thurlow (new aspirants for the honour). The election resulted in the return of Messrs Bwing and Burnet, which should be a very good representation for all classes. SAnnATAiuANrsjr.— The "unco gnicl" have been sorely exercised here lately "auent" Sabbath desecration, as they term it. Some waggoners— being tied to time, I suppose— loaded a waggon with coal 1 one Sunday, all unknownito the proprietor of the pit, and a storm in a teapot was the result, giving an opportunity to some of flauntiug their piety before the public. - School.— The annual Jexamination of the public school here took place last Tuesday, Mr Petrie being the examiner. The result was very satisfactory, the percentage of passes being high, and the general report very good. The inspector expressed himself as highly pleased with the tone and discipline of the school. Parents are to be congratulated on having in Mr Beattie an efficient and painstaking teacher.
