It will thus be seen that the shipments for the past year show an increase of 44,448 bales as compared with tho^o to the same dates lash year, and an increase of 72,269 bales compared with those to the haine dales iv 1885. The list is headed by New South Wales, which just beats Victoria by 963 bales. New Zealand, which has puhhed rapidly ahead of recent years, is a good third', and is followed by South Australia, Queensland, Tasmania, and West Australia in the order named. The attached table shows the proportions contributed to the total export by the Australian group and New Zealand for the past four years :
