Wool.—The London sales are reported to be progressing satisfactorily, the competition becoming keener as the sales progress; and although merinos are about $d per 1b below April rates, good cross! breds have not suffered any decline. Private cables received show that values are very firm for the better descriptions of crossbred and merino wools. Sheepskins.—Monday's sales were well .attended, and good catalogues wore submitted at the different auction rooms ; -'and although biddings were somewhat irregular very fair prices were obtained, and we are unable to report any appreciable difference between the values current this week and last. Town butchers^ crossbred (green) brought 3s 7s, 3s 6d, 3s sd, 3a 3d, 3s Id, 3s, 2s lOd, 2s 9d. 2s Bd. 2ft 6d, and 2s 4d; merinos, 2s sd, 2s 4d, 2s 3d, 2s Id, 2s, Is lid, and Is 9d; lambskins, 2s 6d to 3s 3d; country skins from lOd to 3s lid, and dry merino skins in bales (pelts well saved), 4§d per lb. Next week's sales will take place on Monday as usual. Eabbitskins.—Small catalogues were offered on Monday, and most of the skins forward we.c summers and and autumns mixed. All of the trade were ' present, arid under animated competition every lot changed hands at good prices. A few bags ot prime greys collected last month brought 15d per lb; other lotSi from 6d to 13|d por lb, according to qnality and description. Sellers may look for a substantial advance in values here as the quality of their skins improves This month's skins should command about 18d \erlb. ', ' ' Hides of all descriptions, if well cured and free from cuts or scores, are at present in good demand. Prices-are, however, without quotable change: allow.—Very little rendered offering, but a far quantity of rough fat continues to come forward, and is taken up at quotations by the local soat, makers. Best mutton fat is worth from 10s 6d to 11s 6d ; medium, 9s to 10s; best mixed, 8s 6d to 9s ; medium, 7s6d to 8s; inferior, 5s to 6s 6d. Grain.—Wheat: The quantity offering is small, butas millers are not in immediate need, we cannot report any advance in values. The tendency of the market is, however, decidedly upwards. We quote prime milling samples at from '4s to 4s Id ; extra choice Tuscan a shade more; medium, 3s 9d to 3s lid; fowls'wheat, 3s to 3s 6d.' Oats: The market may be reported a shade firmer, principally owing to the fact that sellers are not forcing the market with supplies. The quantity coming forward is limited, and as consignments in store are being held for better values, buyers, to supply their orders, have had to increase their limits from id to Id per bushel. We quote prime milling at from Is Bjd to Is '9d per bushel ; best short feed, Is 8d; medium, Is 7*d; discoloured and inferior, Is 6d. Barley: Market unchanged.
