OUTRAM.
Mat 30. — The Outram Town Board meeting was held on Saturday. Present — Messrs Snow (chairman), Dow, Tynan, and Rutherford; The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The resolution passed four weeks ago re the bye-law prohibiting persons, under a penalty of £5, from keeping ferrets, stoats, or weasels within the town district was confirmed. The rest of the business was of the usual routine character ; a few small accounts were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned. The ferrets are removed out of the town, but only a few chains out of the town district.
Road Board.— At the meeting of this body there were present Messrs Grant, Allan, and Fleming. The clerk reported that Messrs W. T. Shand and A. Fleming had been re-elected members of the board. Mr Peter Grant was r«-<?l.-cted chairman and treasurer. — The clerk reported receipt of £61 19s sd, Government subsidy. He was instructed to use all necessary means to get any outstanding rates collected before the 30th June, for the board only receives subsidy for rates collected before that date. — A letter was received from Gunn and Ourrie declining to take up their tender owing to some misunderstanding. — Mr Allan moved that tenders be called for contract No. 2, Boundary road, and separate tenders for the bridges. Seconded by Mr Fleming and carried. — Mr Traill offered to subsidise the board by forming 10 chains of road line to the boundary of section 2 of 52, block 111, Maungatua, if the board formed the next 30 chains, so as to give him an outlet. — Mr Allan moved that tenders be called for 30 chains road formation from boundary ojt section 2 of 52, between sections 53-55 and 56-67. Seconded by Mr Fleming and agreed to.— The board agreed to meet on Saturday fortnight to receive tenders. — Accounts amounting to £45 were passed for payment.
Eivbr Board. — The monthly meeting of the River Board was held on Saturday. Present Messrs Grant (chairman), Snow, Ohisholm, Bathgate, Tynan, James, and John Allan. It being reported that horses and cattle are frequently amongst the willows destroying them, Messrs Snow and Tynan were appointed by the board to sue the owners of any cattle or horses found trespassing among the willows.
