PORTOBELLO.
May 30. — The ordinary monthly meeting of the Portobello Road Board was held on the 28th inst. Present : Messrs J. Macandrew (in the chair), W. Dickson, J. Seaton, J. Cross, J. G. Lewis, T. Murray, R. Raynbird, G. Anderson, and G. G. Russell. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. — Tenders were opened for -breaking metal ai Waverley, and Mr Geough's tender at Is 6d per yard was accepted. — Mr Kirkwood wrote stating his price for supplying metal at Waverley. Noted.— A letter wasj received from the Bank of New Zealand stating that 18s 5d had been placed to the credit of the board as received from Governmeut. — A return from the Benevolent Institution was received showing who were receiving relief from the institution, and also a request for payments due. It was resolved that the amount be paid; as it was an oversight that it was not paid last month.— The question of erecting a pound was discussed, and it was ultimately decided that Mr Wadie arrange for a pound at his place.— lt was decided that notice be given that a rate will be struck at next meeting of f d in the pound.— Accounts to the amouufc of £74 Is 6d were passed for payment. — The ratepayers' meeting was adjourned until next ordinary meeting, and the proceedings then closed.
