HIGHCLIFF SCHOOL.

The annual distribution of prizes to the children attending this school took place on Wednesday, .the 22nd iust., in the presence of a large number of the parents and friends of the scholars Tti'f committee deserve very gre-t credit for the interest they tak« in providing such a varied assort ii ent of prizes as wjere awarded. The committee's prizes amounted to upwards of £13 in value, bes'des which several friends ga^e special prizes for sewing. The custom his es« tablished itself here of giving a dress as first prize in each standard for sewing, and judging by the work done, the plan seems to be a nighlv successful one. Before the children were dismissed they were supplied with lollies, and an invitation was given to all to attend the annual picnic on Christmas Day.
