WHAT'S WANTED WILL TRAVEL THB TAIERI DISTRICT THIS SEASON.. What's. Wanted is a rich bay of a very high and Eure strain'of Clydesdale Blood, and stands 17 hands igh. Ho. is a horse of very large bone, very active and symmetrical, and is the sire of some famous prize young stock in the North of Scotland. 'What's Wanted was bred by W. S. Marr, Esq.. UppermUl, Tarves, Scotland. His dam, Jess, was a pure Clydesdale, a great prize-taker, of immense bone and linn symmetry. His' sire, that far-famed horse Lord Haddon; which has gained a large number of prizes in all the principal show-rings of Scotland, full particulars of which will be found in the Witness of the 17th and 24th October. What's Wanted, when a yearling, In 1873, gained first honours at Inverary. and the second prize at Aberdeen. When three years old he won the Royal Northern Society's first prize, and the same year he gained the Auchtermuchty firßt prize of £55, beating a field of 173 horses. In 1876 was shown irfa field of 1 1 selected horses at Stirling, and was awarded the first pri/Ite of 60 guineas. 'And in 1877 he gained the I West of Cumberland Stallion Society's first prize of £100, at Glasgow, in a field of upwards of TOO of the best blood in Scotland. What's Wanted lias proved himself a very sure foalgetter, and.hi.s stock in the Ballarat and this district are remarkably promising. Wlmt's Wapted' having travelled the Taieri district last season, and the Wakat.ipu district the previous two season's, his "charaoter as a sure foal-getter,' nnO the high 'standard of his stock, are established beyond question, , and require no comment.
