AUCKLAND SUMMER MEETING. Auckland, December 21.
The first day's races of the A.R.C. summer meeting were held to-day at Ellerslie. The morning opened threateningly, but after a light shower cleared up fine. About 7000 people were oa the ground. Results : —

Cannon, Catesby, and Taraora also ran. The Hon. W. Robinson's colt Torrent was established as favourite at even money. The start was & moderate one. Tamora at once cut out the running at a strong pace, followed by Catesby
