THE MERRIVALE DIGGINGS. (Per United Press Association.)
Invercargill, November 3. A very nice sample of quartz from Merrivale diggings is being shown in town. It was found in a creek and is thickly crusted with waterworn gold. The goldminer who found it has driven about 130 ft, and expects to strike the reef at 40ft farther. The stone is good solid stuff, unlike the usual run of Longwood stone.
