The Witness has a very large circulation in all the farming districts of Otago and Southland, and owners may rest assured that by no other means can they bo effectually bring their intentions with respect to their horses for the coming season before tho class of settlers interested, as by availing themselves of the use of its advertiraag columns. WHAT'S WABJTEW WILL TRAVEL THE TAIERI DISTRICT THIS SEASON. What's Wanted isa rich bay of a very high and pure strain of Clydesdale Blood, and stands 17 hands high. He is a horse of very large bone, very active and symmetrical, and is the sire of some famous prize young stock in the North of Scotland. What's Wanted was bred by W. S. Marr, Esq., Uppermill, Tarves, Scotland. His dam, Jess, was a pure Clydesdale, a great prize-taker, of dmmense bone and fine symmetry. His sire, that far-famed horse Lord Haddon, which has gained a large number of prizes in all the principal show-ringSjor Scotland, full particulars of which will be foundiin the Witness of the 17th and 24th Octobor. What's Wanted, when a yearling, in 1873, gained first honours at Inverary, n.nd the second prize at Aberdeen. When three yearsiold he won the Royal Northern Society's first prize, and the same year he gained (/lie Auchtermuehty fiust prize of £55, beating a field of 173 horses. In 1876 -was shown in a field oi 1 1 selected horses at Stirling,, and was awarded the first prize of 150 guineas. And'in 1877 he gained the West ot' Cumberland Stallion Society's first prize of £100, at Glasgow, in a field of'upwards of of the best blood in Scotland. What's Wanted has proved Mmself a very sure foalgetter, and his stock in the Ballarat and this district are remarkably promising. What's Wanted having travelled the Taieri district last season, and the Wakatipu district the previous two seasons, his character as assure foal-gettef. ant? the high standard of his stock, are established beyond question, and require no comment. For all mares sold or exchanged the owner at time of first service held responsible. Paddock accommodation for mares at 2s 6d per week. Every care taken, without responsibility.
