Jum: 19. — Agricultural operations are practically at v standstill at present in this district in coni-equenee of the stormy weather beiug expeii'Hced. During the past week wind, rain, i'tot.b, and even snow in the high regions have alternated. A few farmers have been eniplojed driving grain to ihuhtation, and the drain plough has beet) ;it w ork on several forms. This latter is ;v great acquisition for use on land with a clay bottom. It in not of much use for swampy land in its present form, but no doubt it will be modified and improved ore lotitf.
Muii'u, Immiovmubnt. — This society have dismu-sed htivernl weighty questions at late meeting*, and tlie interest hi its proceedings is being well sustained.
Ball — Tho luirvesl-home ball was a success. The weather was favourable, aud a& the roads are good here now, the residents in the district turned up well and were joined by a good few friends from a distance. Refreshments (liquid and .solid) wore distributed throughout the night in abundance. Tho dance was relieved at intervals by songs, each vicing with the other •who would contribute most to the night's enjoyment, and all patted the best of friends.
