KELSO.
June 23. — Rain has been falling ahno-.t incessantly for over a week, aud we have also had occasional showers of snow. This morning dawned bright and clear and promised a good day, but the barometer is again falling rapidly. "Yesterday the Pomahaka again threatened to flood Kelso, but although a good deal of water was flowing down the streets, no damage was done, and the water quickly subsided. Work was suspended in Mr Tough's shop on account of the water being knee-deep in the shop Ball. — As advertised, the Caledonian bail was held in Dunnet's Hall on Friday night la-^t, and owing to the unusually wet weather mid bad roads, together with a good deal of opposition from a section of the community, turned out a failure, at least as far as the attendance of ladies was concerned. In every respect the affair was capitally arranged, the music being a treat of itself, and had there been a sufficient number of ladies present a most enjoyable evening would have been the result.

Buchauan, secretary ; Sutherland, J, Kirk, Crossan, Russell, and Steel.
