THE LONDON WOOL SALES.

London, June 16. The wool sales opened to-day. The joint catalogues of Charles Balme and Jacomb and Co. comprise 12,700 bales. One-third are New Zoaland wools, and one-third from New South Wales. There was a large attendance of bidders, and the bidding was excited. Merinos showed an advance upon the last sales of from 20 to 23 per cent., and crossbreds ranged from 5 to 15 per cent, higher. Foreign buyers made large parchases.
The third series of wool auctions was opened to-day before a large attendance of Home and Foreign buyers. The catalogue comprised 12,099 bales, for which good competition was manifested, chiefly on Foreign account. At the close of the sales scoured wools ruled 3d, greasy fully 2d, and crossbreds per lb higher than at the close of the previous auctions. The present series of sales close on the 29fch proximo.
Mr TV. G. Ncill has received the following telegram from Messrs Jas. Morrison and Company, dated London, 16th inst. : — "The series has opened well and a good demand is expected to continue throughout. The total quantity of wool available for the series amounts to about 350,000 bales, 30,000 of which are from the Cape and the balance from .Australasian Colonies. The attendance of both Home and Foreign buyers was numerous. Biddings for all descriptions were very animated. Prices show an advance as compared with last closing rates on both washed and greasy merino fleece of 2d per lb ; fine and coarse crossbreds have advanced 7i per cent."
