THE HOME ELECTIONS.

London, December 3.
The county elections are still proceeding. The total returns so far give the Liberals as 46 ahead. The Liberals are gaining many of the county constituencies for which Conservative members were returned at last election.
December 4,
The latest election returns show that 263 Liberals, 213 Conservatives, and 54 Parnellites have been returned up to the present.
London, December 5.
Mr Joseph Chamberlain addressed a public meeting at Leicester last evening. In the course of his speech he referred to the probable state of parties in the new Parliament, and predicted fresh elections would take place at no distant date, after the assembling of Parliament. London, December 5. Among the members who have lost their seats at the present elections are Sir Wilfrid Lawson, Sir Farrer Herschel, and Mr J. B. Burleigh. Sir William Hart Dyke has been re-elected for Kent. December 6. Liberal candidates continue to triumph in the farming counties. For Lanarkshire the Conservatives only secured two seats out of seven. For lnvernesshire Mr C. F. M'lntosh, representative of crofters, has defeated 'Sir Kenneth M'Kenzie and Mr M'Leod, and a crofter candidate has also secured the Argyleshire seat. The elections will finish on Wednesday next, the 9th inst.

London, December 3.
The grazing counties have chiefly returned Liberal members, the Parnellites carrying most of the Liberal and Conservative seats in Ireland. Lord John Manners (Postmastorgeneral) was elected, and the Hon. Sydney Herbert rejected. Lord John Manners (elected for Melton, North Leicester), and Hon. Sydney Herbert (rejected for Wilton), are both Conservatives.

The latest election returns show the Liberals to have gained 262 seats, the Conservatives 210, and the Parnellites $2., Mr Stephen Mason (the Liberal candidate) has been elected for MidLanark, and Mr Richard Lawlor (Home Ruler) , for Queen's County. Sir Matthew Ridley has been defeated.
Mr William Sproston Came has been defeated.
Mr Gladstone considers that an alliance between the Conservatives and the moderate Liberals is impossible.
The Standard states that the chance of the Conservatives obtaining a majority is hopeless.
December 6.
The Liberals have secured 206 seats in England, 25 in Wales, 58 in Scotland, and 1 in Ireland. The Conservatives have obtained 214 in England, 3 in Wales, 9 in Scotland, and 17 in Ireland. Sir Samuel Wilson was rejected by 1461 votes. The Hon. E. Stanhope has been elected, and the Hon. G. C. Dawnaway and Mr E. D. Gray (a Home Ruler) have been rejected. Mr T. M. Hsaley has been returned \or Derry.
