Wellington, Juno 4. The following notices are gazetted :— W. E Sbeedy to be deputy-registrar of marriageß, &0., forGabriela, and J. L. Evans for Wyndham. A. W P. Gilbert to be officer under the Salmon and Trout Act for Otago,
George Roberts, Mayor of Riverton, is appointed a J P. Constable Joyce is appointed clerk of the Licensing Committee, Hampdnn ; and R. N. Robs is appointed a member of tha Land Board for Southland.
The services of tbe Naseby Rifhs has been accepted as ao honorary corps, and also the Queenstr-wn Main School Cadets. An Order in-Council fixing the fees under the Resident Magistrate's Act appears in tonight's Gazette. Captain M'Craie, of the Wellington Artillery, has been gazetted a member of tho Board of Examiners of Militia and Volunteer Officers.
Captain Gaeooigne has been gazetted major in the New Zealand militia.
A copy of the troaty between Great Britain and the Republic of Uruguay for the extradition of fugitive criminals is paz-jtted. New Zealand war medals have bees* inaued to the following : — Sergeant Avelin<? ( A.rmod Constabulary), Sergeant Lawson (Nvrier), Sergeant Rial (Native Contingent), BugW Downer (Armed Constabulary), Private Bit hop (Taranaki), Private Brewer (Taranaki), Pnvnte Cunningham (Tarnnak;). Private E^skine (Armed Constabulary), Private Fraeav (Hawke's Bay), Private M'Donald (Taranaki), Private Piripi Pauro (Native contingent), Private Hemi Rakau (Native contingent ) The Civil Sdrvicn literary prlza of £25 for the beat essay on " L^nd laws and their effect, social and economical, &c, upon the conditioa of the people," bas been awardpd to Mr Edward Gordon Allardyce, lately oi \he Electric Telegraph Dopavtmont.

FISHERIES CONSERVATION ACT.
•The following are fthe amended regulations undar the Fisheries Conservation Act. Paragraphs .2, 10, 11, and 12 of the old regulations are revoked, and the following substituted : —
2. Nothing in these reflations shall be deemed to prevent any Maori from taking oysters or indigenous fl3b (exclusive of seals and other amphibious mammalia) for consumption by himßeH and family and not for sale, saor shall they extend or apply to the taking of indigenous fish with rod and line. 10. The mesh of every net or sein used for the purpose of taking fish in tidal waters shall measure diagonally, when prepared for use wetted and r ßtrcfcohed, not le 1 ? 11 th^n two inches, unless such net be a bona fide garfish net or herring net, and used for taking garfish or herrings only. 11. Tbo mesh of every garfish net shall measure diagonally when prap^cod for uao, wo' ted and stretched, nofc less than one inch. 12. The mesh of every herrins net shall measure diagonally when prepared £ r use, wetted and Btretched, not less that one aud a-quaster inch.
