Ho sent for a detective as 0 o'clock this morning, and stated to him that he committed the burglary at 1 a.m. on

the 27tb ult. He cut through tho door, and, finding the coast clear, took everything ha could conveniently cany away. He wai nor, as was at first supposed, disturbed. He got clear away with a large number of articles, and, placing them in an old whisky kpg, buried thpm in the back premises attached to the Te Aro Hotel, at which placo ha had been employed aB waiter. It waa his intention to have proceeded to Sydney and dispose of the articles there, but Dot being possessed < f sufficient ready cash he decided to go to Christchutch and " raise tho wind " by pawning or sailing a few gold watches. Allendale says he Lft for Lyttelton the sarno day aa the robbery was committed, and in Christchurch he disposed of four gold watcheH and three gold alberts. He was about to return to Wellington and thon remove the remainder of the " swag " to Sydney, when he was arrested. Tho dotective made a search of the locality and found the jewellery where accused had stated, except of course the articles in the custody of tho Christchurch police. This morning a remand waa asked for, and prisoner replied that the case might at? well proceed, as he intended to plead guilty. So far no accomplices are spoken of. Davis, the mulatto, who was arrested on BUBpicion of being concerned in the burglary, waa to-day discharged from custody, the magistrate remarking that he was dismissed without a Btain on his character, Allendale was remanded till Wednesday.
