Fatal Coach Accident.

Chbistohuboh, September 15, An accident occurred to the Akaroa ooaoh on Saturday, and George Bishop, a schoolmaster, received injuries from which he died. The following are full particulars of the accident : — Mr Bishop, Mr Bennetts, and the driver (R. Maine) were on the box seat. On Hearing Barry Bay a horseman passed by driving a young_ bull, which ran in front of the horses, causing them to swerve and turn round so sharply that one of the front wheels of the coacb broke of! close to the axle-box, The horses then bolted, and dragged the coach for some distance, when they became detached from the vehicle, and dashed pell tnell into a small gully. The driver waa thrown off the box, When the horses first turned, Bennetts jumped off almost immediately, and- escaped with nothing worse than some bad bruises and a few cuts. On getting up he ran towards the coach, which was lying on the road, and found Mr Bishop on the ground near it, A lady who was inside the vehicle bad received some bad bruises and cuts ; bub a gentleman and three children, who wera also inside passengers, esoaped comparatively unhurt. Mr Bishop, however, though conscious and able to speak, was so much hurt as to be unable to rise from the ground. He said he thought his thigh was broken, and that he had received internal injuries. Another coach came up, and Mr Bishop was laid on a mattress and taken to Little River, where he died shortly afterwardß,
