LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Board was held on Wednesday. Present : The Chief Commissioner (Mr J. P. Maitland), Messrs Bradshaw, Clark, Duncan, and Green.

APPLICATION TO PURCHASE, GLENOMARU. Mr Connell, for G. E. Pollock, requested the Board's decision on his application to purchase 30 acres in block 111, Glenomaru district. — Ranger Hughan recommended that the application should be granted if a quarry on the land was not interfered with. — The application waa approved, subject to the surveyor laying off a quarry site if considered advisable.

OLAIM FOR FENCING, OTARA. •William M' William asked that when sections 7 and 8, block IV, Otara district, were reoffered for sale they should be burdened with the value of 20 chains of fencing (£l2) erected by him. — The request was declined, aa the applicant had the means of recovering half of the value of the fencing from the new occupants of the sections. '

APPLICATIONS TO PURCHASE, CATLINS. Ranger Hughan reported on the application of Mr Barrett to purchase section 34, block IV, Catlins, and also Mr O'Connell's application for section 35, same block. He stated that there was no objection to Mr O'Connell's application being granted, but recommended that section 34 should be divided into two sections and sold. — The Board approved of Mr O'Connoll's application, subject to the necessary roads being taken and survey fees paid. Regarding section 34, it was resolved that the land be put up to auction as land of special value at 21s per acre. RESIDENCE AREA, LOWER HAWEA. Mr S. H. Turton, for Ttiomas Dowling, applied to purchase section 16, block V, Lower Hawea district, held by him under residence area certificate.— Referred to the district land officer for report. CAMP RESERVE, LEE STREAM. Mr W. Wallace's application to purchase camp . reserve, containing 46a. Or. 19p., on section 17, block IX, Lee Stream, was declined, FLOURMILL SITE, LAWRENCE. The District Engineer, Lawrence, reported on Mr Arbuckle's application for the Tuapeka Flourmill Company for a quarter-acre at Derwent street, Lawrence, and stated that it was inadvisable to grant the application. — The request was declined, the land being probably on the line of any extension of railway. EXCHANGE OF AREAS, Thomas M'Latchie stated that he had made a mistake in applying for land in the Glenomaru district, having mistaken it for an area in Owake district.— lt was decided to meet the wishes of the applicant if possible. RE OFFER OF BUNS FOR LEASE. The following runs were dealt with as under, subject to the Government's approval :— No. 6, Wakatipu— to be offered for 10 years at the reduced rental of £20 per annum : Nos. 11, 12, 13, and 15 (grouped)— to be offered for 21 years at the reduced rent of £150 per annum ; No. 236e, Morven Hills— to be offered for 10 years at £50 per annum ; No. 236h, do— to be offered for 10 years at £200 per annum ; No. 432 do — to be offered for 14 years at £15 per annum ; No. 445, Hawkdun— to be offered for 14 years at £35 per annum ; No. 170b, Beaumont— to be offered for 10 years at £60 per annum. VILLAGE SETTLEMENT, TUAPEKA WEST. The Chief Surveyor transmitted plan of subdivision of section 3, block XIII, Tuapeka West.— Government recommended to make a village settlement, and soil under the deferredpayment system. PERPETUAL LEASES, GIMMERBUBN. Mr Connell, for J. Blakely, applied to have the upset price of perpetual-.lease sections in block VI, Gimmerburn, reduced to Is per acre.— The members of the Board expressed their willingness to reduce the upset prices to 2s and Is 6d ; but as this did not meet the ap-

plicant's view 3 they resolved to leave the upset as at present, as they believed the land would be much more valuable in a few years. DEFERRED PAYMENT SELECTORS, MOUNT HYDB

Ranger Valpy forwarded a report on de-ferred-payment holdings at Mount Hyde and Sutton. — Hugh Blair Crossan said that 20 acres of land on his section was ploughed, andhe intended to build a house on tbe land and reside on it by the New Year.— The Board decided to give Crossan five months' time to build and reside on his holding. It was resolved that D. G. Snodgrasa and Daniel Mackenzie be asked to show cause within a month's time why their licenses should not be forfeited. DEFERRED-PAYMENT LICENSE, GIMMERBUBN. John Docherty applied for deferred-payment rural section 16, block IV, Gimmerburn. — License to isnuo. DEFERRED • PAYMENT SECTIONS, TOI-TOIS AND

BLAOKSTONE.

The following applications to purchase on deferred payment were approved : — Jame! M'Kernan. section 22, block VIII, and Bection 26, block IX, Toi-Tois; Hinkson Mcc, sections 1, 5, and 6, block .11, Elacksfcone.

SALE OF SECTIONS, WAIKOIKOI AND GLEN-

KENICH. It was resolved that the following sections should be offered at the upset price of £5 per acre :— Sections Ito 11, 12, and 14, 16, 18, 20. and 23, Waikoikoij sections 19, 17, 24, and 29, being subdivisions of sections 17 and 19, block X, Glenkenich district.
