The proceedings took place in the Albany Btreeft Hall. About 70 porsonß were present until towards the closo of the business, when a crowd poured into the building. The following candidates were proposed : . Thomas Dick, proposed by John Barnk3, seconded by Andrew Lbks.

William Downie Stewart, proposed by James Wilson, seconded by Thomas Shout. On a show of hands being invited, the result wa9 declared to be— for the Hon. T. Dick, 60: for Mr Stewart, 28.
