The Forest Hill tramway is now all but completed—too late for the present harvest; but there is no doubt it will induce cultivation' next year. Sixteen thousand acres of good timber land is also available by rail on any part .of the main trunk line as a result, of its construction, and an impetus will probably be given to the milling industry of this district. The harvest weather ' here has been very propitious, and most of the crops are now cut. Though generally light in strawj the crops a?e satisfactory, while any shortcomings will be balanced by the enhanced price of grain. On Tuesday last a fire occurred near the New River, resulting in the destruction of two stacks, together with the threshing-mill of Mr Nicholson, of- this^ place. # The crop was uninsured, but the mill was insured to the extent of £200. It will therefore be a loss to the owners of the mill and crop. The Presbyterian Church bazaar is now thoroughly in train, and will no doubt be a success,
