April Ist. The wool season has now closed, and grain is the talk of the day. The farmers in the Hakateramea Valley are all anxious to get their grain across the bridge, as they do not know the moment that structure may go with a little fresh, which the Waitaki river is noted for. The result of the poll of local option vote re granting licenses for this district is against the granting of a license for either publican's, bottle, or accommodation for the three years. Mr Beadel, book-keeper at the > Kurow^ and Hakateramea- stations lias met with a painful fun accident, by which two fingers of his left and were shot away. The. accident occurred in this wise : He went into one of the paddocks at the Kurow station after rabbits, and his gun burst. He was promptly taken to Oamaru by Mr Chapman by tiap during the night.
