In this market business is now restricted to a few odd lots of Btogirlenf wool. On Monday we sold about 40 bales, at from BJd to lOgd for greasy orossbro i, and from 7i<i to 10-^ for merino. „ , Sheepakiud.— We held our weekly sale on Monday lasi. as usual. There was a good attendance of buyers, and pricea obtained showed a little improvement on the previous week's. Country skins, fuil-woolled, fetched from 3s 7d to 53 Cd ; pelts, from 8d to 2j 2d ; lambskins, from Is 3d to 23 2d. Hides. -We sold all to hand on Monday at up to 4d per lb for sound wet-salted. Tallow.— We did not offer any this week. Grain. Wheat : The market continues firm ; values are, however, without change since last week. The demand for exj ort ia hardly so brisk at the moment, but millarsr, on the other hand, are purchasing more freely. Our transactions for the past week have been -<52,600 bushels at quotations, which are as follow : From 4s 5d to 4s Cd for prime samples, and for ordinary from 4s 3d to 4s 4d; fowls' wheat, from 2s Gd ro 3a 4ri. Oats : We have to report a largo export demand, and prices aro in consequence hardening. We quote prin.e feed and milling at from 2s 8d to 2a 9d ; inferior and discoloured, 2s 6d to 2a 7d. At these quotations we have sold 7000 bushels. Barley : There are no samples of the new crop'ofifering, but we have inquiries for prime malting. Ryegrassseed is in fair request. During the wo< k we have sold 6000 bushels at from 4s 3d to 6a per bushel, according to sample.

Fat Cattle.— There was a moderate supply of 117 head forward at Burnside, consisting principally of ordinary quality, with about 30 head prime. Prime bullocks brought from £8 10s to £W ss ; ordinary, £5 5« to £7 12s 6d ; cows, from £4 to £7 10s. We sold 7 head cows on account o! Messrs Bryce Bros. Fat Sheep.— A email supply of 1047 came forward for to-day's market, and owing to this limited number prices advanced considerably : . crossbreds brought from lls 6d to 16s On account of the bareness ol the market, a few pens at the olose of tho sale brought up to 18s 3d. We sold on account ot Jamea Rutherford, Esq. (Summerhitl), 68 crossbred wether* at )5s 6d ; on aocouot of 1 Walter Miller, Eiq. (Glenore), 75 do v at 15s to 15s 9d. We quote prime mutton, 2}d to 8d per lb. • Fat Lambs —307 were penned, and sold at from 8s 9d to 10s 9d. We sold 52 on account of Jos. We sold 39 svt from 6s to 225. • Store Sheep —Young stock are' inquired for, and both crossbredß and merinos are readily placed. We have to draw attention to our sale of store aheap, &c, under country sales. At Burnside to-day we sold 100 merino ewes at satisfactory prices. Country Sales.— We have to call attention to our sale atWaipahl Station, in conjunction with Megß-s *D. Reid and 00., of 4500 crossbred and merino sheeji, 100 Romney and merino rams, mixed cattle, &c, to take place on Friday,- the 24th March ; also to our sal" at Waipori, on account of Mr R Robinson, of ab'.ut 40 Clydesdale mares aud geldings, light colts and fillies, b0 head fat and store cattle, implements, &c, on Thursday, the 80th March ; and two sections of land in the Clarendon district, containing 212 aores. Sheepskins.- -We held our usual skin sale on Monday 'ast, when there was a full attendance of the trade, ani with good competition prices showed an improvement on last week. Crosubreds brought up to 5s Id ; morinos, 4a lid ; butchers' pelts, Is 5d to 1b 9d ; lambskins; Is lid to 2s Id. Hides.— Last week's values aro maintained, and .well-conditioned lota are placed at 4d per lb. ,' Tallow.— We have uo transactions to report. . Grain.— Wheat : There is very little of the new crop ' yet to hand, but transactions have taken place at prices up to 4s 6d per bushel for prime, and 4s to 4* 4dfor medium ; fowl feed, 2s Od to 3s 3d. Oats : The demand continues good. We quote for good milling and bright feed, 2s 8d to 2s Od ; and during ,the week we have placed several parcels at tho latter figure. Barley shows an improved demand, ana we have cleared last season's lots on hand at 3s 2d to 3d 3d. We have no transactions in the new crop to report.

Fat Cafctle. 117 yarded ; exce .tfsome 40 head prime, these wero mostly medium quality. There was bri-k»r demand and higher prices for bent puns, other Mints) reading fully last woek's quotations. Bullocks Bold at £6 16s to £10 7b Gd ; comb, £4 2s (id to £8 17s 6d— or equal to 20a to 22s Od per 1001b for prime beef. We yarded 25 ho id, an! sold on account of Malcolm Carmichael, Esq. (ttiverside), 12 cows up to £7 2a 6d ; on account of Jno. Bruce, Esq. (Brighton), 6 steers, £61756 d ;on account ( of Messrs Hocton, Holland, and others, 7 head, up to £5 17a 6d. Privately we sold 57 head.

Fat Thirty yarded. These proved more than enough, and prices were low. We sold 4at 10s to 22s each.

Pat Sheep.— lo47 penned, consisting of, say, 300 mormoa, little bettor than stores, and 747 crossbrods ; most of those were ijoo<l useful quality. The bareness , of the .market caused a rise of from 2s to 25,6 d a head on last week's prices. (Jh'OHsbreds sold at 12s to 18s 3d (the latter price was given for a very prime lot) ; merinos, 8s to 93 3d. We sold on account of General Fulton, Outraiu, a drift of. cvossbreds at 18a 9d. We quote prime mutton 2Jd to 3d per lb. Fat Lambs.— 3o7 penned. The whole of these were good quality, and owintj to the short supply they brought fully last week's rates. Best sold at 8s &l to 10s ; others, 7a 3d to 8s 6d. We sold lor Mr Hugh Fraser (Waihemo), 30 crosabreds at 7s 6d j 20 merinos, Ss9d.

Fat Pip.— l 34 yarded, half ot which were stores and suck ers ; these were duj), at low rate.*. Porkers' sold at 22j to 42*. We sold 10 at quotations.

Store Sheep.— We have 4000 very superior four and six-toot^, merino ewes for sale from Messrs Cargill and Anderson's well-known Tevlot flock— a really prime lot.' We have also a a few lots of half-bred ewes and lambs, and some really prime pure Leicester ewe lambs for sale. We disposed of lOfll mer^io flock rams at a satisfaitory price; and w$ have a number of merino and long-woolled $ims for sale from some of the best breeders in th,e province.

Store Ca,ttle,— The demand is not so active, and prices are easier; qiu'et well-bred cattle still find buyers, however,, q.b fair prices. Wool. -At Monday's Bale we submitted a fair catalogue. Owing to the recent favourable accounts from the London sales, there was brisker demand and better prices. Sheepskins.— At our usual weekly sale we offered a medium catalogue, consisting chiefly of butchers' green lots. The trade, which was well represented, competed keenly, causing prices to improve. Butchers' pelts sold at Is 5d to 2s ; do lambskins, Is 8d to 2a Id ; country crossbreds, 2a Id to 6a 4d ; do merino. Is lid to 4s 9d ; station skins ia bales, ssd to 6d per lb. Hides.— The improvement noted in our last report has been well established. Prices for extra hoftv^ lota are firm, with an upward tendency. ,We quote heavy (free from cheeks and eavs), 4& to' 4£d; ordinary, 4d ; inferior and slippery^ 3d to 3|d ; calfskins, B|i to 4d. Tallow.— We did. Nat offor any rendered tallow this week. Some small lots butchers' rough fat sold at £18 to £1$ 10a per \<m, which we give as market value. Freehold Property.— We report having held a .sale "at the Green island DrlUphect on Saturday last, w.neri we submitted, on account of M. Hume, Esq. • 36 sections in the township of Brooklyn. Grain. Wheat: There is active demand for all prime milling lots. As yot few have arrived. Prices are firm at last week's quotations. We sold 2500 baga. Fowl's feed is scarce, and commands high rates. Ab auction we sold IS9 bags at 3s 4d to 3s 6d. Oats, which are coming to hand slowly (scarcely enough to nieot the local demand), still continue to harden in price. At our auction sale held on Thursday lapt, prices ranged from 2s 6d to 2$ 8d for good feed. Durinvf the wefk, privately and at auction, we spjd 3U7 baga. Barley ia very scarce, and new erop'in malti'-g condition has been placed at 4,-i, Milling and feed, none offering. Potatoes are in full supply, and prices low. To clear off some old lots 39s 6d has beea accepted, but for fresh-dug parcels £2 10a is obtainable. We quote prime milling wheat (new), 4s 4d to 4s 8d ; medium. 4•. to 4s 4d; inferior and fowl's, 8s to 3s lOd. Oats : Milling, 2s 9d ; best heavy feed, 2s 7d to 2s 8d ; others, ' 2s tid. Barley : Bright malting, 3s 3d to 4s ; milling and feed, 2s 0d to 3p. Potatoes : £2 to £2 10s per ton, sacks extra.
