VINCENT COUNTY JOTTINGS.
(By Tarantula.)
Alexandra, March 12th. Some of the young larrikins of Vincent County seem to bo extraordinarily fond of rabbit-shooting on Sundays. Last Sabbath Day threo or four sprightly youths went out to have a pop at the bunnies, and did not come homo without a little spoil. This species of larrikinißm should bo put down at once by tho police. I do not know if these Don Juans are aware of the penalty they are liable t« for shooting on the Sabbath Day ; if not, the best thing for them to do would be to interview the Inspector of Police and learn the risk Thtete'not the only kind of larrikinism we are subject to, or have to put up with. We possess hobbledehoy larrikins (fellows ranging from 15 to 25 years of age), and boy-larriklns, mainly composed of youngsters not long out of their swaddling-clothes. The " cat-o'-nine-tails" should be legalised. This would probably cause some of the young blackguards to reform in their habits and become fully-civilised beings. LarrikiHism 1b one of the greatest bugbears in the Colony, and one of the darkest slurs on our national name. Let us hope that Parliament will legislate on the matter during the.comlng session. The Alexandra bridge is jogging along towards completion, and soon will be ready for traffic. It is authoritatively stated that the opening ceremony will take place on the 24th of May next. The bridge is to cost £25,000— money onough to manufacture a dozen such structures. A scene is likely to occur are the whole of the money is passed for payment. An adjourned meeting of the Dunstan Hospital Committee will be held in the Town Hall next Monday evening, Somehow or other, the "indefatigable' secretary has the greatest difficulty in getting a ouorum together for transacting business, People do not display the slightest interest oither in the retrogression or advancement of the Hospital, and undoubtedly it is rapidly going to the dogs. The Committee are not the right men iv tho right place. They are too lackadaisical and sleepy-headed for the place.
