The Hindon diggers held a meeting at the Hindon Hotel on the 7th insfc. for the purpose of showing why tho mining reserve should be wi'hhcld from gale. Mr J. P. Maitland, the warden of tho district, presided. The principal arguments advanced by the diggers were

that a bag of gold weighing BJlb was purchased by Mr Sovell during the last month, and the miners represented themselves as averaging from £2 to £2 103 a week. Mr Maitland is to bring their case under the notice of the Land Board at the next meeting of Prospecting la continued with vigour at the Zeahndia and Gladstone reefs, and I am pleased to state that the prospects improve as the work advances.
