Portobello Road Church.
, On Wednesday, Ist inst., the annual con£re;, gational meeting and soiree of the Pp^°bello road congregation were held in*! the above church, the minister, the Rev. Alex. Greig, M. A., ..presiding. The meeting was addressed by the Chairman, the Eevs. Messrs Fraser and Ross, and by Messrs Bell and J. Wood, from Dunedin. The treasurer read the financial statement for the past year ; and the choir, under the leadership of the precentor, Mr Riddell, effectively rendered several pieces of music. The floral decorations of the church were pleasing and tasteful, and the meeting separated about 11 o'clock, after haying spent a pleasant and profitable evening. The " weather was somewhat unfavourable, still the attendancifwas very large, some friends being present from a considerable distance. The following is a statement of the income for the year :— Sustentation fund, £180 2s Cd ; church extension, £5 13s 4d ; ministers' pasi sage-money, £4 8s 3d ; missions, £16 3s 8d ; aged ministers' fund, £2 14s 6d ; ordinary collections, £50 5 seat rents, £36 8s; building fund, £162 ;-total, £457 10s 3d. '•' . The number of communicants was stated -to be 164. , ; •
