Carisbrook v. Wanderers.

This match was played on the Caledonian ground on Thursday, and owing to the fine innings of Collinson and the excellent bowling of Cooke, resulted in an easy victory for the local team. Collinson's play was all that could be desired, and during the whole tune he was engaged in making 65 runs he only gave one real chance. Austin and Cooke, with 21 and 20 respectively, played in good form. It is worthy of mention that, with the exception of Cooke, all the Carisbrook players were clean bowled. Fairhurst and Edser bowled very well, each man taking five wickets. In the first innings of the Wanderers, R. D. Harman, who contributed 17, was the only player who made a stand. Cooke was in fine form with the ball, and for a time the visitors were completely " stuck up" with him. In the second innings he did not do so well, and was knocked about considerably, especially by F. Fenwick, who played a good innings for 38— making some really beautiful hits to all parts of the field. Edser made 17 in good style, while B. Fenwick and Stevens also made a good stand. Dixon bowled best in the second innings. Appended are the scores : —
