The Chief Surveyor, reporting on the application by Mr M'Kellar to purchase C4O acres of Run 28a suggested that the form of the land applied for be altered, and that the applicant be requested to produce proof that a notice of the application was advertised. Messrs Gillies, Street, and Hislop, on behalf of William Dochorty, applied for protection to prospect for copper and other minerals over the piece of country (5000 acres) bound, on the south by Cooper Island. The Board decided to grant what protection it could for eight months.
