Waste Lands Board.
The ordinary meeting of the Land Board was held on Wednesday, when there were present : The Chief Commissioner (Mr Maitland), Messrs Bastings, Reeves, Green, Clark, and Bradshaw. DUNKELD. J. C. Arbuckle, on behalf of William Cummings, applied for a lease of 30 acres of the Rankleburn Bush, situated about eight miles south of Dunkeld, for sawmill purposes. ' It was decided to ask the applicant to furnish a sketch of the land in question. WAIPORI. Messrs M'Donald and Matheson, licensees of Runs 3, 4, and 6, Waipori, wrote asking to be informed what action the Board intended to take in dealing with these runs, the licenses of which expire in April next. It was resolved to refer the question of the runs and others in a similar position to the District Land Officer to report. biiag point. The Palmerston Borough Council wrote drawincr attention to the Jact that the lessee of the Shag Point coal reserve had not complied with the conditions of the lease It was decided to inform the Council that the Board find that Mr G, W. Eliott, the lessee, has not yet completely fulfilled the conditions of his lease, and that he will be rsquested to take action in the matter Within four months. ' If he fails to do so his lease will be cancelled. run 345. Warden Stratford recommended that the application of C. C. Boyes for land on Run 346 be granted, subject to reservation along the bank of the Kawarau and Lake. ,The application was granted at 20s per acre, subject to the recommendation of the Warden. TEVIOT. Consideration of applications by John Inglis, Thomas Haggain, and Robert Tiltman for land in the Teviot district was adjourned. WAIHEJIO. The lease hold by W. T. Goldammer, of section 14a, block VII, Waihemo, was cancelled. AGRICULTURAL LEASES. Agricultural leases were granted to the following ; — Patrick , M'Gettigan, section 18, block I, Cairn Hill j John Crossan, section 25, block I, Teviot; James Black, section 10, block XIII, Maniototo. HEDGEHOPE. George Watson applied for a mineral lease of 60 acres antimony) of section 7, Hedgehope. It was decided to ask the pastoral lessee what he would relinquish his lease for. WAIKAIA. An application by Mr Mouat for Hill and Shepherd ' lor a reduction of rent for a sawmill leaee in block VI, Waikaia district, was declined. EELSO. Several residents of Kelso petitioned the Board requesting, that blocks VII and XI of the township be reserved for recreation purposes. The Board could not see its way to grant the whole of the land applied for, but will consider an application for 10 acres favourably. BHOTOVER. A deferred-payment lease of section 81, block V, flhotover district, was granted to John Brown. LAKE M'KKRROW. John Robertson applied for a leaso of 20 aores on the north-east shore of Lake M'Kerrow for tho purpose of quarrying stone for building purposes. It was decided to request the applicant to furnish a plftn of the land asked for. CROOKSTON DISTRICT. A petition was received from several Orookston residents,, asking that section 3, block XII, bo again ppened on the deferred-payment system, Referred, to Ranger.
