COBBESPONDENOE. MrW. Somerville wrote complaining that tte road leading from the hotel to the entrance "to Grant's Braes was in a bad state of repair. — It was agreed to leave the matter to the Anderson's Bay members. ... A letter wbs read from A. Btgg informing the Board that if tbe works going on at Anderson's Bay were not finished to his satisfaction, ■lie would sue for damages.— lt was agreed to Jtet him sue. . , Mr Beattie asked that a culvert might be put •cross the road fronting his property at High«diffd.—Agreed to. . . Mr Smithaon wrote asking permission to take in three feet of the couuty road for the puriwe of plantiDg a live fence.— Granted. Mr Sims asked that a piece of road-line front3ng hia property be closed.— lt was resolved that the Board had no power to grant the Mr J. C. Millar applied to ba appointed Jtsnger far tbe district, without any remuneration.—Consideration deferred till the next aaeeting. . , , T l A report was received from the Inspector complaining that J. M'Curdy bad failed to fulfil the terms of his contract.— lt waa agreed j&at 10s for one horse and dray and man, or IQjfor two horses and drayß and one man, Tbo tbe rate for the present. A letter was ieceived from the Treasurer, in Wellington, informing the Board that there had Been paid to its credit in the Colonial Bank tfce sum of L 196 13a Bd, being its share of the Bubsidy for Road Boards ; and also a circular giving a detailed account of the surplus land revenue.— lt was resolved that the Clerk "Write to the Treasurer in Wellington, informing him that this Board considers the Counties of Wftimate, Vincent, Maniototo, Tuapeka, and Lake had no legal claim whatever to share in the distribution of the balance of land revenue, and therefore trusted that this County would get its fair share of the amount At present retained by the Government, which Ihe Board considered should be equitably . divided among tbe counties entitled to it on the hania of previous distributions. andehson's bay.
Mr A. Stewabt movpd— "That the worts going on as Anderson's Bay County road be suspended for three months, in prder to allow the work to be extended."— Carried.
THE ELECTIONS. Tthe following gentlemen were appointed to l*e returning-officers for the several subdivisions lor the return of one member for each subdivision :— W. Sanderson, Tomahawk ; A. Blatch, Eaat Harbour ; R. Braid, Highcliffe ; W. Braid, Anderson's Bay.
ACCOUNTS.
The sum of L 451 43 6 1 waa passed for payment, and tbe meeting adjourned.
