CRICKET.

Cabisbrook v. Dunedin. Some disagreement occurred in regard to this match relative to the ground it Bhould be played upon. Without going into the details of the dispute or arguing the matter pro or con., we may merely remark that there appears to be an impossibilily to T)lay tho match out on the Carisbrook ground, where it has been started, owing to the fact that next Saturday Bports are to be hold there. The dispute had an unfortunate result for the Dun^dia Club, as three of the players chosen refused to play on the Carisbrook ground. Tbesa were Crawshaw, Haskell, and Glasgow— all three "pood men and true," from a criclcot point of view — and their los 3 oonsidera v 1? weakened the team. Rose captained the Carisbrook player, and Serins the Dunedin. Carisbwok went first to the wicket 3, bping represontpd by Conway and Collinson. Things opened badly, for four wickets fell for seven runs, and it was unfc till Cargill joined Collinson that any stand was made. The latter, however, was not playing in pood form, and he gave several chances before Morrison took him easily at point. Cargill played good B^eady cricket for his 28, but none of the other.; did much damage. For Dunadin Morri-mnftcdWyinks fielded well; and Paramor, Glen, and Moore bowled splendidly, the fi>t-named especially. Moore was very stra'ght throughout, but was unlucky, and the scorers debited him with more runs than were prot off him. Glen and Wyinks came ouh first for Dunedin, the latter soon retiring through atramptiriGr a short run. Glen played some merry cricket for his 14, till ho was neatly caught by Austin at short-leg, Carr got into double figurPH, but the others did nothing to speak of. G. Clark let out at Austin, for which his wicket suffered ; Harris went first ball ; and M" nrrison was well caught by Hume at long-off. Pararaor.g'>t out throurh a ball reaching his stumps by a " cainon" off his leg, when he was beginning to l^ok Ret for a score. The light became very dull towards the cl< se of the gam' l , and there wai a cold bre r ze also. Austin bowled fairly, securing four wicknts at a ost of 27 runs.
