UPPER TAIERI.
(PEOM OUR OWN OOKRE3PONDKNT.) The rabbit invasion has been productive of much discussion in squatting circles, relative to the best courae of procedure to adopt, with a view to its extermination. Not* withstanding all this "legislation," bunny haß established himself "in the clefts of the rocks, and in the topa of the ragged rooks," and to dislodge him from his " permanent " home, will in my opinion prove a very difficult undertaking for the rabbiter to accomplish. Rabbiters have been capturing " bunny " recently on Mr. Shennan'a ran to the number of 200 weekly. This little animal certainly entertains antagonistic views to squatting grazing right* in Otago. With hiß « kith and kin " he has levied "black mail" upon the " woolly species " to an alarming extent. Have we not here a beautiful illustration of the Scriptural parable of the " tares." The flookownerß invested thousands of pounds in fencing material for their several depasturing runs, under the impression, I presume, that it would answer a two-fold purpose, to wit, curtail incidental expenses, and also dispense with the shepherd's services. When everything was quietly arranged, and domestic peace ensured, behold an enemy appeared in the field, which I may add has revolutionised the whole squatting programme.
