WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The ordinary weekly meeting of the Waste Lands Lands Board was hsld yesterday. Present : Mr J. P. Maitfand (Chief Commissioner), and Messn Butterworth, Green, Clark, and Strode. MINTJTBS. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. AKATORE. Mr P. Malony applied to purchase on lease the bush reserve on section 31, block I, Akatore dwtrict, the section being almost entirely denuded of timber. Referred to the Ranger for a report, to embrace also the other contiguous bush sections in the district. i HAWKSBORY. A petition was read from residents of Hawksbury, asking that the remairinsr unsold lands between Edinburgh and Hi'wksijury Town,, and block Tf, Hawks-., bury district, might be open for aale, w»s taken into consideration. . ■ Consideration, was deferred until the exact position of the land referred to" was ascertained. Brown lodged an app icatton for a mull portion of the tailing reserve, and the northern portion of section 9, block 1., Waikaia district, as a site for a flour mill Consideration deferred. KAITAJTGATA. James Davidson, on behalf of the Kaitangata Rail- I way and Coal Company, asked to be allowed to deposit slack from the coal mine on the Kaitan?ata Creek bed which had been left vacant by the diverting of the itream. Reaolvsd to inform the applicant that the Board has . no objection to the request being complied with.
