DRAPERY ASSISTANTS.
■ There is a subdued agitation .going on' in Parin reapeoting the employment of male instead of female assistants .indrapery, &c, establishments. It is no secret that ladies themselves would prefer to be^ served, by the .plainest of young men rather than the most polished young women. The head man-milliner of Paria ; • Worth, tries on the dresses of hia aristocratic clients, and conveya the unfinished toilettes often in hia own private, carriage! for that purpose. When a lady is served by her own sex, she knows she has to run the gauntiet of criticism of perhaps a score of her sisters, as she passes from one raypn, to another, and there are looka and nods as to her toilette. Occasionally, | many sly rubs are adminiatered. beneath j a sugared grin — that one of her shoulders i 8 lower than the other, &c. No " he- | crittur" would ever think of such ungallantry. •' ■
