WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The usual weekly meeting of this Board took place on Wednesday. There were •present — the Chief Commissioner, Mr J. T. Thomson (in the chair), and Messrs Duncan and Hughes. It was resolved that the Pasturage Regulations be extended to the Strath Taiuri Hundred. The Ranger's Report on Bush Reserves situate in blocks I. and V., Hawksbury District, having been read, it was resolved that Mr Calcutt's application to purchase part of reserve in block V. be declined. Messrs Drury and Simpson applied for the sole use of a track they were cutting to the bush in block VII. , Tuapeka East, so as to obtain timber under their license. The application was declined. The application of the Trustees of the Episcopalian Church, Waitahuna, to purchase sections 8 and i), block XVIII., Havolock, was agreed to, provided the ground had not been sold at the sale on the 22nd, advices of which had not then arrived. The valuations of sections 1 and 2, block XVIII., Roxburgh, and improvements thereon, were approved of, and it was resolved that they be sold, the purchaser paying valuation in the usual way. Messrs Connell and Moodie, on behalf of Mr A. B. Henderson, applied to purchase part of section 9, block IX., Balclutha. The application was declined. Mr W. S. Douglas's application for a further period of three months' protection to prospect for antimony near Hindon was grunted. Mr C. R. Howden applied for a lease of ton acres to mine for antimony in Mount Hyde district, near Hindon. A lease was granted, subject to the usxial conditions. Mr G. F. Reid applied, on behalf of Mr Patersjn. to reduce the license fees for his sawmill at Glenkenieh. it was resolved that Mr Paterson be charged in the amount of fees payable for two-thirds of the year.
