Markets.

Witness Ofpiob, Thursday Evening.

The markets have been very quiet all through the week, and little can be noted as done in any kind of produce. The harvest being now, however, nearly concluded, there will be a large amount of new grain offering immediately, when no doubt greater activity than has been witnessed during the last three months will be experienced. Prices remain without much change, t<ut exhibit a want of firmness, the joint result of the want of an outside market and of the usual dull feeling prevailing at the close of the season. We do not, however, expect to see good parcels of old grain range much, if anything, below present quotations. Small sales of good milling wheats have taken plaoe at 4s to 4s 3d, which are, however, rather full prices at the present moment. Oats are worth 2a 7d to 2s Bd, only scanty sales making — buyers only taking parcels for immediate necessities. Barley remains very dull ; malting has been placed during the week at 3s, but inferior parcels are not moving at any prices. A slack demand for flour w reported at Ll2 to Ll2 10s for the b6at town brands. Colonial provisions are still very plentiful Shipments of cheese will realise s£d only with difficulty, and butter is moved with the like difficulty at 7d to 7£d.
