Fat; Cattle. — The market continues firm Only one draft was yarded this week, which being of good quality, sold readily at from 28s to 30s per lOOlbs. These figures may be taken as current market rates.

Fat Sheep. — A large draft from Southland, which had been sold for forward delivery, having arrived this week in very poor condition, was refused by the buyers, and the firm tone of tbe market has t een strengthened by the shortness of supply thus occasioned. We sold at auction a small draft of prime half-breds, ex Maori, from Timaru, which fetched 17s 9d each ; also, privately, 1500 merinos for forward de.ivery, at 3|d per lb. We quote prime quality mutton 3|d per lb. Store Cattle. — .No transactions. We have still enquiries for good grown bullocks, but holders display no anxiety to sell at present rates. We quote 3 to 4-year old bullocks, L4to L 4 ss ; mixed herds, L 2 10s to L 3 ss, according to dedcription. Store Sheep. — There is a good demand for half-bred weohers and hoggettß and merino wethers. Horses —Good young draughts, and upstanding saddle and. light harness horses, are in fair demand. Grain.— The market for all descriptions of gram has been without animation 'his week. We offered a considerable quantity at auction but did not effaot *ny sales. We quote wheat, first- class samples, in fair demand at 5s 6d per bushel ; oats, feed, 3s ; milling, 3s 3d ; barley, good malting, 3a to 3s 6d.

Messrs Dbivek, Stewart, and Co., report: — Fat Cattle.— The market has been somewhat less firm during the past week, full supplies having come forward We yarded for public sale but one draft of 30 he'd, from Mr Anderson's Wyndham station, which realized barely 27s 6d per lOOUs. We quote prime quality beef »t27s 6d to 30s. Fat have been very scarce. One small lot, ex coasting steamer, sold at auction, realised 17a 9d per head. We quote prime half bred notion at 3|d ; merino wether do, 3£d per lb.

Store Cattle.— We have frequent enquiries for well-grown store c ttle, but the few in the market are held for prices t eyond buyers' limits, 10 that, bo far as we are aware, none* have changed hands. We quote three to four year old bullocks at JL4, mixed mobs, at L 2 10s to L 3 108, according to desjriptioa and locality. Store Sheep.— 4, 6, and S-tooth wethers and half-breds continue in demand. The former we quote at 7s, the latter 7a 6d to 8s each. Mixed hoggets 6s 6d each. At this 1 price we have placed 2000. Wool. — The advices y the San Franciscomail are very meagre, bu& all agree as to the serious effect a prolongation of the Continental war would have on the market in Novem- | ber, when the quantity of wool for offer would be unusually heavy. Flax.— No public sale has been held during the week, and we have not learned of any business having been done privately. Mr James Milner, reports— No fresh horses have been yarded this week, and in consequence I have to report the market as very dull There is no change in prices, almost any description of horses coming to h<nd now would command immediate attention, the supply being so extremely limited. My quotations are similar to last week :— Firat-class heavy draught, at L 45 to Lsi> ; second do do, L 25 to L 33;3 3; ordinary lighr harness horses and hacks, JLIS fco L2B ; inferior do do, L 5 to L 9.
