Specie. — In the first six months of this year, the total quantity of gold imported into the United Kingdom was valued at L 12,427,886, as compared with L7,191,362t in the corresponding period of 1865, and. 1,9,239,202 in the corresponding period o£ 1864. To the total which accrued for the first six months of this year, June alone contributed . L 6,682,430. .TKe . gold received from the United States to 30th. June v?a3 computed at L 6,954,054, as compared with 1,2,882,395 in the corresponding period of 1865, and L4,213,50l in the corresponding period of 1864. Australia sent us L 2,616,46£ of gold to June 30 this year, against L 1,289,108 nnd L 1,816,897 ; Mexico-,. South America (except Brazil), and the West Indies, L 725.145, against L 1,411,37£ and L 2,670,416; and. France, L 1,071,439 against L 266.188 and LI 12,636. Thegold exported from the United Kingdom was valued at L 7,355,854, as compared with. L 3,530,255 to the corresponding date of1865, and L 7,579,379 to the corresponding date of ]864. In this year's total France figures for L 5,427,804,, 427,804, as compared with L 1,848,209, 848,209 to the corresponding date of 1865, and L 3,922,521 to the corresponding date of 1864. On the other hand, the exports of gold to Egypt to June 30 this year declined to L 320,410, as compared with L 165,444 to the corresponding date of 1865, and L 1,355,585, 355, 585 to the corre3-. ponding date of 1864. The exports of gold in June were valued at L 3,729,882; as compared with L 1,012,831 in June, 1865, and L 891.224 in June, 1864. The imports of silver into the United Kingdom in the six months ending 30th Jane, were valued at L 4,175,251,, 175,251, as compared with. L 3,432,010 in 1865, and L 5,440,923 in.. 1864 (corresponding periods). The exports of silver, to France amounted ta L 1,083,952, 083,952 to 30th June this year, against L 425,275 and L 756.74 8; to Mexico, South. America (except Brazil), and the West ladies, to L 1,556,577, as compared with L 2,820.353 and L3,3b5,939 ; and to the Hanse Towns L 315,974, against L 5,611 and L 210 ,182. The total imports of silver in June amounted to L 1,083,198 against L 450 r 312 and L 501,350 in June 1865 and 1864. The aggregate exports of silver ta June 30 this year were L 3,766,707, against • L 2.966.571 and L 5,158,137, 158,137 in the corresponding periods of 1865 and 1864. The export of silver to France ia the first six months of this year waa • L 524,812, as compared with L335,9fr8 and L 1,012,914 in the corresponding periods of 1865 and 1864. The exports 1 of silver to Egypt — en route. for India, China, and the' East —to June SQ> i this year were valued at L 2,432,756* against L 1,024,355 in the corresponding j period of 1865, and L 3,476,958 in the cor-j responding period of 1864.
