WOOL REPORT.
Messrs. Driver, Macleax & Co. report :— The transactions for the season are now closed, and with the exception of a few odd lots, amounting to 30 bales, forwarded for sale or shipment, we have little to report here. Our London correspondent states : " The general opinion that the termination of the war in America was not far off, and uncertainty as to what effect this might have, contribute to the quiescent state of the market, but more recant news of the surrender of General Lee and his array, giving hopes of a restoration of peace, has imparted a firmer tone to our produce markets generally, an improvement in which it is but reasonable to suppose that wool must participate Quantity to be offered at next sale, 130,000 bales."
