DUNEDIN LIVE STOCK REPORT.
Messrß. Drivke, Maclean & Co report : — The transactions of the past month show an evident improvement in the demand for stock, fat especially. In the early part of the month cur market for fat cattle being very bad, prices we it in favor of the seller to a rate much higher than anticipated ; this caused buyers to rather eagerly proceed to secure the next few months' supply, and although there is rot an over supply for the winter months, we do not look for extreme rates, yet we are certain of their remaining firm. Fat sheep have shared in the same advance, less from anticipated scarcity than from firmness of holders, a firmness which we think will be fully justified by the results. Store sheep are quickly ge'ti'ng cleared off at adranced rates, and holders of store cattle have good reason to look forward to a fair market for a description of stock, for the past few months difficult to realise on. Fat cattle, 37s 6d to 40s ; fat calves, £3 10s to £4 15a ; fat sheep, best, 4Jj& ; ordinary, 3|d to 4d at the yards.
